The South Florida Science Museum is positioned to save thousands on its energy bill every year thanks to an energy makeover completed Monday by Florida Power and Light.

FPL workers, including Bob Gannon, installed energy efficient lighting and programmable thermostats, added weather stripping to doors and windows, tuned up air-conditioning systems, cleaned ducts, and enrolled the museum in FPL’s energy saving On-Call program.
The light bulb change itself will save the museum about $1,800 annually, according to FPL.
Area children, including Trey Townsend of Lake Worth, learned about the upgrades at the museum’s Spring Science Camp 2011 Monday and enjoyed an educational musical performance by FPL’s Captain Conservation.
