Create green (jobs) with green

Whether one agrees or not with the massive federal dollars targeting economic recovery, there is no doubt the funds given to Florida for green initiatives will speed along energy independence and the creation of green jobs.

The Obama administration announced today it has awarded $50.4 million for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the Sunshine State.
It will be used to boost the use of clean energy, increase energy conservation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while creating and retaining green-industry jobs.

Once Florida shows it has reached certain milestones, the federal government will release additional funds, bringing Florida’s recovery money for green projects to more than $126 million, according to U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

The funds will be good for Florida. Let’s just hope the feds find a way to tighten the national budget so the deficit doesn’t get out of control. (Something we’ve wished for for more than eight years now.)
